The number one business strategy for financial planners – part two

In part one of this piece I made the assertion that the number one business strategy is caring for your mind (click here to read).

This is based upon the universal truth that in clear, present, and unburdened states of mind you are free to bring your best to whatever you are doing.

For instance, a guaranteed way of significantly improving your client meetings is to improve your quality of presence. This is a direct function of having less on your mind.

Yet so many of us have developed a habit of over-thinking, having busy mind, or feeling tense.

How pervasive is this?

The renowned scientist Bruce Lipton found that most people spend less than five percent of their time being present. The rest of the time they are thinking about the past or the future. 

This has an enormous (and detrimental) impact upon our overall sense of well-being, happiness, and effectiveness. 

Are our circumstances to blame?

Most people would claim that their life circumstances are the primary cause of how they feel. We are culturally conditioned to believe that external life conditions create our internal psychological condition.

Yet this is not true. It only seems that way.

The number one way to care for your mind

The conventional wisdom on caring for your mind recommends techniques. 

There seems no end to the number of ‘experts’ telling you to meditate, walk in nature, listen to music, exercise, do yoga, or practice mindfulness.

All of these have a value and I would not discourage anyone from doing what makes sense to them. Yet if techniques are the answer then why are so many people suffering?

The truth is that caring for your mind has its foundation not in techniques but in understanding.

The Three Principles, as shared by the late Sydney Banks, gives you a scientifically grounded explanation into how your mind works. The realisation of these Principles brings people into their mental health and well-being. It stops people feeling victimised and instead they feel empowered.

Before I came across the Three Principles understanding I did not realise how our performance and state of mind are so closely correlated.

Yet over the past dozen years I have seen time and time again how people can genuinely transform. If you want to improve your business then begin by improving your state of mind.

What people so often find is that ALL areas of their life begin to improve too. It is most definitely a case of all boats rise with the tide.
