The most dangerous word in the English language

When we were little kids, we never knew what limitations were, did we?

In fact, when we are kids the very idea of a limitation is absurd. Our imaginations know no boundaries and we live in a world of pure possibility.

Our life was full of curiosity, joy, and wonder.

Who doesn’t want more of this in their lives now?

Think of the goal or outcome you want or the kind of life you would love to be leading and yet it seems impossible.

What have you thought about but never got started or have given up on?

Maybe it’s to start a business, totally re-invent your work, write a book, take a year off or double your income?

The question is…

What stops you?

It is true that we cannot guarantee a future outcome. But this is not what stops people.

I spent six years learning from the brilliant Dr. Christina Hall, one of the world’s leading linguistics experts.

Chris always used to say the most dangerous word in the English language is ‘know’.

As soon as we think we know something we stop being curious.

Knowing takes you out of that space where anything is possible and into a world full of limitations.

Your default future

We all have a default future. I do. You do. Our clients do.

This is the future that plays out when we keep living from the known.

We think we already know what is possible or not possible for us and what the limits are. And we become like a caged bird.

I can’t do, be, or have this because…

One of the most common limitations is “I don’t know what to do!”.

But this is a lie held in place by imaginary limitations.

Your created future

The ‘how-to’ lives within the ‘want-to’.

When we live from inspiration (meaning beyond what our personality wants) the ‘how-to’ is never an issue.

Kids live in inspiration. And we were all kids once, living from source energy, not made up, ego-based limitations. We were not worried about looking bad or making mistakes.

You didn’t take your first step, fall over and give up, did you?

You didn’t think “I don’t know how to do this, so I’m calling it a day. Crawling is not so bad, I’ll get by.”

Yet, as adults, how many of us seem to have forgotten how to live from pure inspiration and keep going until we get what we want.

But what would happen if you did?
